Cori blogging: Hungry, hungry, hungry! I'm eating everything in sight these days.

We went to camp yesterday and I waded four times and went for two long walks.

And now I'm really hungry. And the toppings could be more exciting. Canned dog food on kibble gets dull. Roasted chicken breasts get boring.

I want the good stuff...How about filet mignon? Or a nice tender pot roast? How do I know about such things, you may wonder...? Obviously I've got an internet connection... I can read the recipes and restaurant reviews as well as the next...uh... dog. So, bring it on -- I'm ready for the gourmet food.

This is it. I'm on a kibble strike... No more kibble... no more kibble...

Rain. Blah.

Monday, July 26, 2004

We had a nice (peaceful) day at camp yesterday. We swam, we slept, we snacked.

There is one small problem at camp. Tess gets restless at night, because she really wants to get in the "big beddy" and she's not allowed. (Only Cori, most spoiled gh of all time is allowed in the big beddy at night; Luci is Queen of the Big Beddy by day. That leaves only a few stolen moments for Tess and it's just not enough!) The problem at camp is that our sleeping arrangements aren't as perfectly defined as at home, so Tess has taken to pacing around at all hours until she gets tired and settles for one of the dog beds or the couch.

And the REALLY BIG problem is that the floors are all wood so we hear "click, click, click, click" - toenails on wood floor - ALL NIGHT LONG. We wish she would chill. This interrupts our beauty sleep and enrages the humans. "Click, click, click, click". It's like Chinese Water Torture without the water.

We're still resting from the Little Man invasion.

Tess is starting to recover though. She spent some quality time in the Diggy Box this morning. Thanks to yesterday's rain and today's humidity the Diggy Box dirt is quite moist. It clings to her toes nicely until she gets inside and her formerly white legs are now a muddy brown.

Why must humans spend so much time vacuuming? It disturbs our naps.

Sunday Little Man invaded our peaceful paradise...

Little Man learns about waterLM discovers water.

LM learns to swimWow! I can swim!
A relaxing float with DaddyA quiet moment.
More floating funOuch! Poor Greg!

He's still an upstart and we're waiting for the etiquette lessons to kick in. Tess was exhausted from trying to keep track of the shenanigans. Cori and Luci greeted the young pup and then went back to sleep.

We think he had fun. He was very entertaining!

In case you're wondering, the floating chair is (thankfully) still intact!

Vacation Memories...

Cori restsVacation is exhausting...
Tess surveys the lakeAhhh... summer
Luci keeps busyLuci keeps busy
Luci & Tess want a boat ride tooWhere's our boat ride?

(Note: With the exception of the waterfront itself, this area is completely fenced in - we are ALWAYS leashed in unfenced areas...)

Cori surreptitiously got her jaws around some delicious dirt yesterday (undoubtedly purloined from the Diggy Box) and managed to purge it in the middle of the night - dirt, gravel, you name it. For once it wasn't on a wall-to-wall carpet, and surprisingly, no one except Cori was awake for the event. We woke this morning to a very interesting, earthy mix and muttered human curses... we thought it was quite a fascinating biological display but apparently people think otherwise.

Cori has the collywobbles and tummy gurgles this morning. Imagine that!

Vacation, vacation, vacation! We loved it but we thought it might never end...

We spent several days at our camp this past week and have had our fill of the outdoors, the lake and lying around on couches, in that order. (Now we want to spend a few days lying around on beds.)

Such a busy time. Lots of car rides. LOTS of interesting food toppings this week since the grill was going full-tilt. One night we had chicken, another a different kind of chicken - actually lots of chicken.

Cori, the spoiled rotten gh, had a ride in the boat. Cathy held the umbrella over her delicate little head so she wouldn't get too much sun. Luci and Tess wandered longingly around the boat for the rest of the day. Why does SHE get all the special treatment?

Not much more to report - it was a blur of activity and we're all tired.

Normal life resumes today...

Godspeed, Annie...

Thursday, July 01, 2004

Something's going on with Tess... Maybe she hurt her back somehow - she's not saying. But she is doing a lot of squawking on and off, and she fell down onto her back trying to get up the outside steps this afternoon. She's in for a vet visit before long if this doesn't clear up.

Good news! Auntie Annie had a fluid IV at the vet this morning and is feeling a whole lot better. IV fluids can be a real help with kidney disease. Luckily Cori hasn't needed them yet.

More good news! Cori's bloodwork results from her medical workup yesterday were good. Her BUN and Creatanine are the same and her phosphorus is normal. Her kidneys are holding their own.

We went to camp today and waded and slept. Nice...
