Toby the cat, doing his Alice in Wonderland impressionAre they really cloning cats? What a terrible idea!

Take this one: He's grumpy. He's loud. He smacks us in the face. (He does get tasty food - yum yum - but he doesn't like to share.)

We already have two. Who wants another one of these around?

Don't be cloning no cats! Yuck.

We're frustrated bloggers. It's nice to be keeping this ongoing diary and fascinating to look back on our lives, but no one ever leaves us comments. We might as well just be talking to ourselves. Sigh...

Oh well, let's go try to dig up the septic tank again!

It's feeling summery. Sunny days almost all week. Lots of good walkies. A few good rides.

Tess got a major brushing today because she is just a shedding fur MONSTER. The white fluff was just shooting around the yard and she still has a way to go but it's much better. Luci and Cori both got a little brushing too, but neither of them had the fur motherlode that was clinging to Tess.

Everyone's heartworm tests were negative and they had their heartworm meds this morning.

Tess is on a round of metronitazole - see if we can clear up that intermittent diarrhea for good.

Cori's been feeling good. Her bloodwork results came back yesterday and her kidneys are about the same. BUN was up slightly - to 41 from 36. Creatanine was down slightly - around 3.0. Everything else was normal. Platelets fine, so no anemia. She's eating well, not drinking as much, anxious to go out for walks and rides. She knows it's almost summer and that means a world of opportunity.

To the choo tomorrow!!

Why do the My Yahoo pet themes all relate to Purina and only Purina? Where are the other pet food companies? We would love puppies or kitties (not!) on our My Yahoo pages but we don't really need the Purina logo since we don't eat it and probably never will. Where are our favorite brands? Wellness? Nutro's? Better yet, show us some biscuits, Greenies, or dessicated liver treats. C'mon companies - get those sponsorship dollars out and give us some good backgrounds for our pages!

Tess has gurgly tummy this morning, but we had an excellent night's sleep. No diarrhea. No incontinence. No one needing to go out in the middle of the night. Is this how normal people/dogs sleep?

Tess had a Pepcid and her tummy is getting better. She tried to eat all three blades of grass off the lawn.

Little Man came over last night and "entertained" us. We think he's quite an upstart and WAY too hyper. Luci likes him. He tries to play with us but we're not really into it. Tess would like to, but she doesn't really know how to play nicely (just ask Luci!).

The cats tolerated him. Toby batted him in the face a few times. Unfortunately Toby doesn't have claws so it didn't have much of an effect (poor Toby).

LM finally incited Cori to a full display of teeth (with lips raised and teeth bared up to her eyebrows) and she lunged and snapped at him. He clearly has some learning to do about proper doggy etiquette. We'll teach him. Looking forward to it. ;-)

Went to the Choo yesterday and it was wonderful. We took a walk, hung around outside. Cori and Luci even went into the (very cold but no longer frozen at our end) lake. We saw some geese that came right up to the edge of the water. Then we napped inside. It was warm and sunny. We were exhausted when we got home.

And then Tess had diarrhea all night. Too much excitement for her.

We upped Cori's PPA from once/day to twice this weekend and she hasn't had any incontinent episodes since (in two nights). (She had had them last week on Sunday, Tuesday, and Friday night plus some leaking.)

43-degrees at 10 am. Will probably get close to 60 today. Sunny. Byootiful. We LOVE it and we're already itching for a walk.

Tess waits patiently for a walkTess is especially whiny annoying this morning - anxious to do something fun. Next week it's supposed to be 80! Can you imagine?

We had a nice walk yesterday on some of the trails where we don't usually go, behind the neighbors' house. Great sniffies in that less familiar territory. But it wasn't enough and today is a new day...

We want a walk. We want a walk. We want a walk. We want a walk.

We went to the Choo today!! There's still ice on the lake but we took a nice walk on the road and around the woods and sniffed around the water's edge for a while. It's still there! We're so excited and looking forward to summer at our favorite place - won't be long now.

B & R Dairy Bar reopens today - imagine our excitement!

Cori, age 3, on Mount Washington, summer 1995Here's Cori in Summer 1995 (age 3), when she was an "only dog". She remembers that time nostalgically when all walks and rides were for her and her alone. She was lonely during the day, with only three cats to keep her company, but she doesn't really remember that. She remembers going to obedience classes with Cathy and lure coursing and lots of trips, like this one up Mount Washington. She went camping in tents that summer. She went to a greyhound gathering in Vermont and a doggy fun day in Poland Spring. She had one year as an "only" and then Luci joined the family. And Tess a year later. Even now when Cori gets the occasional extra-special quality time, like a ride to the supermarket or a solo walk on the hill, she remembers those carefree days of her youth...

Cori is on high alert at the ChooWe're dreaming of summer at the Choo. Cori found it very relaxing there last year...

Maybe summer will arrive sometime soon? We don't need the bugs though. Could we just put those on hold? Except the dragonflies - we LOVE watching those flit about.

Cori got a ride to the supermarket today - lucky pup. Yesterday we all went and had a wonderful walk at Royal River Park in Yarmouth. There's a paved path but lots of dirt and grass alongside, lots and lots of animal smells, shrubs, blades of grass. It's doggy heaven. It was still a little cool but nice and sunny and we loved the walk and ride. We came home and slept happily for the rest of the day. We're all feeling pretty good and we've slept through the night two whole nights in a row!

Haiku By Tess

Snow, Snow and more Snow
When will it ever end, friends?
Woof, woof, woof, woof, woof.

Grey, grey, grey (unlike us). The weather is abominable. We've hardly had a walk in days and the yard is a mud pit. Tess has come in with poopy paw about 4 times this week. Plus she's still having intermittent nighttime bouts of diarrhea. On again, off again, about three times this week.

Cori had a nice little ride to the Full Belly Deli on Thursday and a small "perky turkey" sandwich. Yum. We're celebrating her four years beyond cancer diagnosis right now. She was diagnosed in late March of 2000.

Her appetite is down quite a bit though, probably related to the kidneys. She's not refusing food but is much pickier and looks like she's losing weight. Her current good foods are a couple different kinds of canned Nutro's, Nutro's Ultra kibble, rotisserie turkey, cheese, bread and peanut butter sandwiches. Not ok are many other kinds of canned food, Wellness kibbles, plain old chicken, chicken broth, any vegetables.

Luci's doing great. She doesn't like the rain but she doesn't mind staying in - she's a real homebody. All those toys she's left in the yard are getting soaked though.
