Tess left us three weeks ago. She was 12 1/2 and was our fun-loving youngster till the end. Tessaroo, Woowoogirl, Wootie, BooBoo - she had so many nicknames all reflecting that happy girl spirit.
She went to Guatemala with us for three months, plus a month of travel time, last year and learned to hate and love traveling. We returned for her last year or so here, and she rested and romped and lolled around on my down comforter until the end. She was our very last pet, since Nicholas also died last summer, at age 18. The house is terribly quiet. But remnants of the spirit of "the girls", and Sammi, Nick and Toby still permeate. They're with us now in strong spirit.

Luci left us yesterday to go join Cori. She was 11 and a half and was happy and active until almost the very end. This past Monday she enjoyed a day at her "spa", complete with some morsels of lobster and vanilla ice cream and a boat ride around the lake.
Luci was fun-loving, our Jackie O pearl girl, who loved toys and good night kisses, snow, being at home, the big beddie and a glass of cold milk. Everyone loved Luci and we adore her. She's with Cori and Toby and Sammi now and in our hearts always.

It's been a coooold, icy winter.... and then we started to get snow... lots and lots of snow. But Spring is on the way and things are looking up. Meanwhile we're hunkered down on the couches, waiting patiently.

Things are shaking out here... Luci has put Tess in her place once or twice, in a kind lady-like manner of course. Tess is living with remaining at the bottom of the heap. She enjoys testing the limits every few minutes though, just in case something has changed.
We finally got to go to the cottage on Saturday... it was beautiful and snowy, but cold. We stayed long enough for a good little walk and a look around and then hurried home to our warm couches.
We need more snow so Luci has a place to burrow. This icy stuff must end!

We really miss Cori. We've been a bit depressed and neither of us is too sure of our place. There's some serious politicking going on around the food bowls, the toys and the beds. Hopefully this will all shake out soon and we can get back to the important things... like burrowing in the snow and digging in the Diggy Box.
Oh yeah... we're both shedding like crazy. Things have been a bit stressful around here.
And they put up a live tree in our living room. That's an invitation for disaster. So far we haven't been forced to water it.

We have been terribly terribly lazy recently. We have no real excuses. Frankly we're happy with things as they are.
It's hunting season, which we detest. And this has been a bad year. Any day (other than Sunday) at any time there may be a gunshot or a series of shots. Tess really gets scared and hides in the thunder bunker shaking like a leaf.
But that hasn't stopped her from digging in the yard. And for some reason we're tired of the Diggy Box - we want real soil, real lawn, to sink our paws into.
We're getting ready for winter... hunkering down... sleeping a lot... not doing much else.
